Vancouver Island’s Farmers Market Season is Upon Us

Vancouver Island is bursting with Farmer’s markets when summer rolls around and is home to some of the best produce and local farms British Columbia and Canada has to offer. You’ll be able to find the freshest and most delicious strawberries, corn, peaches, strawberries, garlic, greens and so much more. Many extraordinary artisans attend the markets and sell beautiful handmade goods for you to take as gifts for your loved ones (or yourself!). We put together a list of the farmers markets to keep your eyes on this season:

Victoria

  • Sidney Market - June 6 - September 5, 2024 on Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The Sidney market is one of the most lively and exciting markets Vancouver Island has to offer. The market spans almost all of the Town of Sidney and is right by the ocean. There is live music and you can enjoy walking through the adorable town of Sidney by the sea near sunset and enjoy being close to the ocean breeze. There is a great mix of fresh produce, baked goods, and artisanal goods. There is plenty of street parking in the town of Sidney, but the market is very popular so arrive early for the best parking.   • Moss Street Market - May 4 - October 26, 2024 on Saturday mornings from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Moss Street Market is located in the neighbourhood of Fairfield close to Downtown Victoria out of the Sir James Douglas elementary school. This market features over 120 local vendors and is a short pleasant walk from Downtown Victoria. They feature plenty of farm fresh local produce as features handcrafted goods and items too. Parking is limited at this market, but it is a short walk from Downtown where there are several parkades, and some metered street parking. (read more)

Duncan

  • Duncan Farmer’s Market - Year Round every Saturday morning 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. The Duncan Farmer’s Market happens all year round, rain or shine in Downtown Duncan off of Craig Street. The market spans over the main streets of Downtown Duncan and features over 100 local vendors. You can also explore local boutiques and stores. There is also live music, and food trucks scattered through the market. There is quite a bit of free street parking and parking lots near Downtown Duncan. (read more)

Nanaimo

  • Cedar Farmer’s Market - May 12 - October 27, 2024 on Sunday mornings from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. The Cedar market is just a quick jaunt outside of Nanaimo. It is hosted at the Woodbank School in the field and hosts nearly 100 vendors. They have excellent local produce, baked goods, beautiful crafts and local live music as well. There is plenty of street parking. (read more)

Tofino

  • Tofino Market - May 19 - October 13, 2024 on Saturday mornings from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The Tofino Market is a hub for the creative community of Tofino. This market is unique, it focusses less on produce, but more on artisans, handmade goods, and bakers. This is the perfect place to find souvenirs or gifts for your loved ones to take back home with you. It’s hosted in the heart of downtown Tofino near the skate park. Street parking is metered and fairly limited since it’s a popular destination. Arrive early to secure a good spot. (read more)

Courtenay

  • Comox Valley Saturday Markets - Year Round on Saturday mornings from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. This is the biggest and longest running market in the Comox Valley. The market takes place in the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds just outside of the city of Courtenay. This market places an emphasis on local fresh produce and farmers. The bulk of their prouducts at the market are from a 70 km radius of the Comox Valley. There are parking lots nearby but the market is very popular in the summer. (read more)
